Working with Families in Crisis to Write a New Ending

During their decade as foster parents, John and Judy Wright partnered closely with Ennis Center for Children, serving as long-term caregivers and providing urgent short-term placements for infants and toddlers in crisis. When the Wright family sought an organizational partner to continue their legacy through this scholarship, choosing Ennis Center was both natural and deeply fitting.

Ennis Center for Children has supported abused and neglected children across Michigan since 1978. Their services reach more than 3,500 children and families each year. On any given day, over 300 children are supported through their foster care program alone.

Ennis Center serves counties throughout Southeast Michigan, with locations in Genesee, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne. They are recognized leaders in finding adoptive families for children — including those with special needs — and in supporting youth with complex challenges. Their programs help teens stay safe, remain in school, and build pathways toward stable, successful adulthood.

At the heart of their work is a simple and powerful mission:

"With the support of the community, we preserve families when possible and create new families when necessary."

The Wright family proudly aligns the John and Judy Wright Scholarship with Ennis Center's vision and values. Their dedicated, compassionate staff continue to guide children and families toward futures brighter than their pasts.
